|
|
They have just put up a brown Tok'ra uniform for sale on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150407632219&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
Production description: Brown jacket, shirt and trousers, used in the production of Stargate SG-1 from Season Six to "Stargate: Continuum". The Tok'ra costumes were redesigned midway through Season Six, replacing the tan "desert" gear that they had worn since Season Two's "The Tok'ra, Part 1".
Technical description: Production-made brown leather jacket with leather detailing on sleeves, darker brown trim and collar, front is closed with 2 buckles and 1 snap, size 40C shirt with tooled brown leather sleeves in a snakeskin pattern with size 40. Brown leather pants, size 32, with button-down front panel. All 3 items have production marked note "Omari Newton" written on the tags.
Currently price is at $5.11, but I fear it will go high There are 9 days and 6 hours left of the auction.
Anyone want to bid on this? It would be great to use for studying and copying, but not if it gets expensive. |

You beat me to it. I just got this in on my saved searches. OMG how much would I love this. I fear you are right, that this will get very expensive by the end of the auction. _________________ Kitha, host to Lashek

Hmmm, it's currently at $182 with two days to go. It will probably spike up right at the end, but it's currently still at less than the cost of materials to make one. I put in a bid, and was automatically outbid. But ebay is listing me as:
h***c
so if that is the high bidder, please don't outbid me. I can't afford to go much above $200 though. And even that will be a stretch.
Update: It sold for $565. Way out of my pricerange. _________________ Kitha, host to Lashek

That one went for $405. None of these will go cheaply. _________________ Host Name: Ne’oone (Knee-oh-nay)

It did give some details that we hadn't really seen before since we could only look at what was on TV. Interesting that they described the tanned tripe as "a sort of mesh"
Now I am inspired to go and work on my brown uniform to have for DragonCon. In my copious spare time of course..... _________________ Host Name: Ne’oone (Knee-oh-nay)

More interesting info on the brown Tok'ra uniforms:
Technical description: Production made, brown, leather outfit. Crosses over in front with two buckle fastenings. There is a darker brown border along the cross-over flap and the collar. There is pressed, crinkled taffeta on the shoulders.
So the stuff that looked like tripe on the brown uniforms is not tripe? Perhaps it was too difficult to work with and they stopped it after the tan uniforms? Anyway, they are selling Ocker's uniform here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150435182881&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
It is at $85 and sure to go up, as all the others
At least we get good pictures and some iformation from these |

Here is the picture of the uniform they are selling:
I still think it looks like tripe! I wonder if the guys selling just decided they thought it was taffeta? |

It sure looks like the tanned tripe to me too! I think they just did not know what it is
They have used some, ummm, interesting descriptions on some of the costume garments, leading me to believe that whoever is writing them knows little or nothing about the subject _________________ Host Name: Ne’oone (Knee-oh-nay)

On the other hand, if they did list it as tanned tripe maybe non-Tok'ra folks would go ewwwwwwww _________________ Host Name: Ne’oone (Knee-oh-nay)

Taffetta... Um_ yeah. They probably have no idea what it is made out of. I heard an interview with the person who is running that propworx business, and they just get a truckload dropped off with little or no documentation. And they have to sort through it.
If anyone does bid on it, let us know so we don't bid against each other. _________________ Kitha, host to Lashek

I agree - they probably have no idea what it is. Maybe we should tell them - perhaps, if they list it as tanned tripe, fewer people will want it and the prices won't go as high
I am NOT bidding on the uniform. I read that shipping is at least $85 to Europe, and then there will be tax and duties on top of that, so the winning price would have to be low for it to not get very expensive for me |

OK - I Have officially gone insane....I happened to log into my email and it said watched items ending soon. When I saw that this was only at $255, I went to look at the bids. There were only 5 minutes left to the auction, so I called Kitha to see if she was bidding (no) and I said oh what the heck and put in a bid and I won the brown uniform for $276!!!!!
The invoice said that due to the high volume of auctions and items being shipped, it could take up to 4 weeks for my item to arrive, but we should still get it before the filming of Lost Colony in June!
Fortunately, I have a large supply of peanut butter and cans of tuna to live on for awhile! _________________ Host Name: Ne’oone (Knee-oh-nay)

That is so cool that you won that! And that is a really good price! That's actually a good bit less than I paid just for materials when I made my brown uniform. _________________ Kitha, host to Lashek

That's great to hear - and congratulations again! It's really cool you got it!
And not surprising it was really tripe. Taffeta! |
